Paint-A-Thon is a project that coordinates the efforts of volunteers from business, civic, and religious organizations to paint homes of low-income elderly or permanently disabled homeowners. It is designed for homeowners who cannot afford to hire the work done, do not have the physical ability to do the work themselves, and do not have relatives who can do the work for them.
- Volunteers paint the exteriors of selected houses, without charge to the homeowner.
- The Paint-A-Thon Committee will determine which houses will be painted based on age, disability, financial need, condition of the house, and availability of volunteers.
- Homeowners selected are notified in July.
- Painting is done on the third Saturday in August. 2007's Paint Day is August 16th.

The Selection Process...
The Selection Committee is made up of human service professionals in the housing, information and referral, and community support fields. Their role is to set criteria and review all applications for eligibility. Final approval for selection "criteria" rests with the Board of Directors, however, homeowners are selected by the Selection Committee.
The Selection Committee's key responsibility is to assure the proper number of applications to meet the teams' needs. The committee developed enough interest within the community in 2007 to generate over 200 homeowner applications. Qualified homeowners were placed in a "pool" of homes to be painted based on need and project criteria requirements, as noted above. Applicants must meet the age, income, and disability requirements outlined by the selection committee and within the official application. All applicants will be notified the last week in July whether or not they qualify or have been selected to have their home painted by the program.
